Neighbours oppose deli’s bid for late licence

A DELI looking to extend the hours it can serve alcohol will find out the fate of its licensing application on Thursday – but neighbours are urging councillors to say no.

The De Beauvoir Deli in Southgate Road, near the Angel, wants to move the final time for selling booze from 8pm to 11pm.

Among letters of objection, one resident said: “We have enough noise pollution from the extra traffic on Southgate road and the pub that we do not need any cause for more noise of a late licensed property.”

Others said they feared being disturbed by people loitering around or music reaching their back gardens.

But owner Harry Davies said there was no reason for residents to be concerned as it will be a bistro operation where drinks will only be served with food.

“There need be no concern about drunk and disorderly people leaving the cafe,” he said.
