THE ribbon has been cut on a new set of council homes in Canonbury on the site of former garages.

Speaking at Dover Court in Balls Pond Road, housing chief Labour councillor Diarmaid Ward said: “This is the best bit of being a councillor – the 57 new council homes on this estate will transform the lives of 57 families and that is just what we need more of in Islington.”

Islington’s housing list stands at 14,000 people in need of a home or more bedrooms to ease overcrowding.
