No cash for energy firm

• ANGELIC Energy, London’s not-for-profit energy supplier, is bringing low-cost energy to people across Islington and the capital, (Will we have to fork out for low-cost energy? February 15).

Angelic Energy has signed up more than 3,700 customers, including many people on lower incomes. Setting up Angelic Energy was a practical step from Islington Council to help drive down fuel poverty by encouraging people to switch energy suppliers to get a fairer deal.

For far too long, inflated energy prices have forced people into fuel poverty, negatively affecting their health and quality of life – and forcing people to “heat or eat”.

Robin Hood Energy, which supplies Angelic’s energy, shares our ethos. It has also won high praise for its customer service, recently being voted second best in the UK in a survey by Which?

In the last 12 months Robin Hood Energy has increased its customer numbers by more than 30 per cent.

From Angelic Energy’s launch in 2017, we have been clear that Angelic Energy is a partnership with Robin Hood Energy. To be clear, Islington does not financially support Robin Hood Energy, and has not been asked to provide financial support to Robin Hood Energy.

Public ownership of energy is not a new idea. Angelic Energy, London’s first municipal energy provider in more than a century, is there to help people get the best energy deals.
