No fines for dog fouling?
Friday, 5th April 2024

• WE moved to lovely Islington nearly two years ago and overall have loved the experience.
However, there is one major blight, dog fouling.
Every day I come across dog excrement on pavements, as well as the almost worse habit where people have collected the mess in a bag which is then left on the street rather than disposed of properly in a bin.
Noticing the frequent signs warning of £100 fines for dog owners who do not pick up the mess, I made a freedom of information request to Islington Council asking how many fines had been issued in the last 12 months.
Unbelievably the answer came back: zero.
I think it raises a question that should be asked of any election candidate: “What do you propose to do about this problem?”
