The historic site off Upper Street – with al-fresco drinks, street food burgers and did somebody say cake!
A NEW Saturday market will launch this weekend at Islington Square – the redeveloped land behind the former mail building in Upper Street.
Urban Food Fest is kicking off the weekly event with complimentary drinks alongside market purchases, and organisers hope it will become a regular shopping favourite.
The revamp provided a new home for the King’s Head Theatre and arcades of shops and bars, as well as a cinema.
But now there will be seats out in the sun for the new market “on the boulevard”.
Promoters said they would be “showcasing a bustling hub of local makers’ stalls offering mouthwatering street food, unforgettable desserts and artisanal products alongside creative crafts for all the family”.
Families can enjoy a free child-friendly arts and crafts station which is on offer each week, the organisers said.
Islington Square was brought to life on the 170,000 sqft space behind the grand red brick sorting office which once operated there.
The market runs from 11 am to 5pm.
