Not just some corny one-liners…
Former borough police commander enjoying tweet freedom

HE was always known for his social media one-liners, but a former borough police commander appears to be enjoying some extra freedom over what he can and can’t tweet.
Raj Kohli, (pictured) who retired from policing earlier this year after a career which saw him take charge of police in both Islington and Camden, is still cracking out a non-stop stream of corny jokes.
But his content on Twitter no longer needs to be controlled by the Met’s communications wing – and perhaps it shows.
“Having spent my first few weeks honing my dad jokes and gardening skills I have also reflected on the challenges I see in policing,” he tweeted. “1. Unchecked unconscious bias. 2. Wilful blindnes.s 3. Institutional incompetence. 4. Ignoring the evidence base. 5. Platitudinal response to change. 6. Misunderstanding equality and equity. 7. Nepotism. 8. lack of openness and transparency. 9. Ignoring the benefits of positive action. 10. failure to address the culture. 11. over focus and under supporting on BAME officers/ staff.”
He added: “I have seen, observed and been subject to all of the above.
“Yes, I was a senior leader and, yes, I tried to encourage change but ignored at every corner.
“We are letting down the amazing people who deliver policing 24/7 and simply protect the status quo and ignore the public.”
Mr Kohli moved from Islington to take charge of the police force in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in 2021.
