AN economist who co- produced a documentary about offshore finances spoke in Canonbury last Thursday.

John Christensen addressed the Islington Economics Discussion Group following a screening of the film The Spider’s Web: Britain’s Second Empire.

It has had more than a million views since its release on YouTube in September. Mr Christensen told the Tribune: “The film was made to be accessible to people who don’t have specialist knowledge and I think the film helps people to understand the scale and importance of the issue.

He added: “There’s a huge public interest and I think the discussion reflected that.”
