Islington Town Hall

NEARLY three quarters of complaints against Islington Council that go to the local government ombudsman are upheld, new figures have revealed.

Seventy-one per cent of the cases were successful, posting Islington above the London average.

The ombudsman describes the uphold rate as showing “the proportion of investigations in which we find some fault and can indicate problems with services”.

Of the 84 upheld complaints received in the year 2019-2020, 21 were directed at the housing department.

A spokesman for the council said it “always seeks to learn” from its mistakes and make changes to improve its services.
