The Culpepper Singalong Choir, which is based in Angel, is looking to expand its membership
A CHOIR that encourages people with learning disabilities and autism to get involved in singing is on the lookout for new recruits.
The Culpepper Singalong Choir, based in Angel, is looking to expand its membership after receiving a £52,000 grant from City Bridge Foundation.
Harriette Ashcroft, a musician and actress who has been heading up the choir since 2018, said the grant will support 35 choir sessions and four outings this year.
She added: “By coming along to the choir you’ll be joining an amazing group of people, many of whom have faced enormous challenges in their life, who all look out for each other”.
Foundation chairman Giles Shilson said: “We’re really pleased our funding will enable the choir to keep developing so more people can enjoy the feeling of family and community, as well as the therapeutic benefits of singing”.
The group is hosting a Winter Warmer singalong session for new members in the community space at Angel Central on January 18 at 6.30pm.
