• MICHAEL McElli­gott’s claim that we saw “700,000 people march against democracy” defies logic, (Letters, October 25).

Ongoing debate about government policy and action lies at the very heart of our democracy. We cannot put discussion about changing government Brexit policy out of bounds just because the initial decision was made in a referendum.
