TAKE a walk around Highbury Corner this week, and you will find shop-fronts displaying Arsenal memorabilia, flags and photos to pay tribute to the historic Premier League win.
Businesses along the Holloway Road have been offering special deals and discounts as Arsenal fever has swept through North London. But one Italian restaurant, Trullo in St Paul’s Road, has taken the tributes one step further – painting their entire shop facade in red to honour the club’s momentous Premier League campaign.
The usually navy blue Trullo is a regular spot for match-going fans to carb-load before a nervy afternoon at the Emirates, as it is situated right in the heart of Gunners territory.
Caught up in the Arsenal mania that has taken over Highbury, the shop unveiled its new bold red front on May 22 in an Instagram post online.
Head chef and owner Tim Siadatan said although he was actually a Man United fan himself, the shopfront paint job was done because he was “genuinely happy for Arsenal and the community”.
He said: “What started as a very silly idea actually grew into a light-hearted celebration not just of the club, but of our cherished regulars too.
“For many locals, coming to Trullo has been part of their matchday ritual for the last 16 years, and with so many of our staff being die-hard Arsenal fans, we’ve all experienced the highs and lows together.
“So when the moment came to celebrate, turning our iconic blue façade red felt like the perfect tribute.”
On Sunday, staff at the freshly painted shop will have the privilege of seeing the Arsenal open-top bus cruise past them in St Paul’s Road, as part of the official trophy parade.
The restaurant confirmed that despite all the fun, the new facade will only be red for three weeks, before returning back to its normal colours.
