YOU may have heard them before you saw them, such was the gusto of the singing and chanting.
Scotland football fans came straight off the train on Thursday and Friday and started to party outside King’s Cross station.
Down for the Euro 2020 football championships and their team’s clash against old rivals England, supporters sang their unofficial away day anthem: Yes Sir, I Can Boogie – the old 1970s disco chart hit by one-hit-wonders Baccara.
Although some onlookers questioned whether Covid rules were being broken, others were charmed by the enthusiasm of the fans, many wearing kilts and sporrans.
They then dispersed across the city for a day of high jinks which included one or two bathing in some central London fountains.
The action from the players on the field at Wembley did not quite match all the excitable build-up, however, with a drab 0-0 game played out in the rain.
And by Tuesday evening, the Scots were one of the first teams to leave the competition when they lost their next game against Croatia.
Thousands had been in London. Police said while dealing with the crowds they arrested 25 fans in Leicester Square and five around Wembley for public disorder offences.
