Paul Robeson

• I STARTED to make a regular trip to Unity Theatre in the late 1940s and saw many excellent plays over the following 10 years or maybe more.

I also looked forward to the wonderful “Living Newspaper” which became a regular Saturday night event.

One major item missing from some of your earlier correspondents’ contributions, and before my time, was the appearance in the late 1930s of Paul Robeson in a production of Plant in the Sun by Ben Bengal.

I have a copy of the poster for this play, donated to me by a much older friend who was there for the occasion.
