POLICE are appealing for witnesses and footage after a pensioner was in collision with a lorry and died in Balls Pond Road this week.

Police, fire engines and paramedics were called to the junction with Southgate Road shortly after 2.30pm on Tuesday to reports of an incident that closed the road in both directions. Despite medics’ best efforts to save him, a man in his 70s died from his injuries at the scene.

According to the Met police, the victim’s next-of-kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specially trained officers. The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting the police investigation.

Police are looking to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have captured it on film.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent ambulance crews, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic practitioner. We treated a man at the scene but sadly, despite our efforts, he was pronounced dead.”

Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 5177/1JUL.
