FOOTBALLERS were jumping for joy when they saw the brand-new surface on Whittington Park’s pitch.
Islington Borough Ladies FC – who run sessions for women and girls of all ages, including the 5 to 11-year-old “Wildcats” – were among the first to play on the new surfaces, unveiled this week after repair works.

Councillor Sara Hyde, Islington’s health and social care chief, said: “The newly replaced pitch surface at Whittington Park will provide a much-improved playing experience for local people.
“I look forward to seeing the women and girls of IBLFC and all the other teams that call Whittington Park their home, making use of the pitch and having a great time.”
