Plans to evict criminals illegal

Friday, 6th July 2018

• PLANS by Islington Council to evict families of criminals amount to collective punishment and are illegal under the Human Rights Act, (Criminals to face eviction from their council homes, June 29).

Only individuals are allowed to be punished for their individual crimes. The council is supposed to be under the control of socialists, not national socialists.

If whole families were evicted from council accommodation for the crimes of one individual, then a large proportion of them would be rendered homeless.

These mainly innocent victims would then be socially cleansed to the north of England where rents are cheaper. So this means the council intends to dump its problems on other boroughs.

Human rights violations could end up with prison sentences. The council should be acting in the interests of justice not injustice.
