Please let’s not wake up to an extreme left-wing nightmare

• WHEN the election was called at the end of April, pundits and pollsters predicted that the Conservatives were on course for a landslide of Thatcherite and Blairite levels of dominance.
Now, with only a week before polling day, opinion polls are suggesting that not only will Mrs May lose her majority, she may also lose her residency at Downing Street.
Perhaps now people will start considering the implications of a Jeremy Corbyn administration. An administration that has Diane “not too good with numbers” Abbott in charge of our police and security services, an administration that has Marxist cheerleader John McDonnell dictating our economic strategy, an administration led by a man who has consistently taken the sides of our country’s enemies over the years in an effort to bring down our country, the Britain-hater-in-Chief, Jeremy Corbyn.
For the hardline champagne-quaffing Corbynistas, a head-bangingly hard left government is a bit of fun – for they have the wealth and means to insulate themselves from the material impact of Corbyn’s economically lethal policies.
But for ordinary working people across this country, this election is no game and we will all pay the price when Corbyn, Abbott and McDonnel drive our economy off a cliff.
With Brexit negotiations due to start 11 days after polling day, we need experienced, credible and competent leadership under Theresa May to ensure our exit from the EU reaps the best rewards possible for our country.
In Tim Barnes (Holborn & St Pancras constituency) and Claire-Louise Leyland (Hampstead & Kilburn), Camden Conservatives could not have chosen two more honest, talented and passionate local champions.
I have known them both for many years, and they embody exactly the pragmatic, moderate Conservatism that our area needs, and would be skilled advocates for Camden’s people and interests to a Conservative majority government. They will make fine MPs and I urge my fellow residents to lend them their votes.
In this election, we will get what we vote for. Please let’s not wake up with buyer’s remorse on June 9, under an extreme left-wing nightmare.
WILL BLAIR
Former Conservative Candidate, Holborn & St Pancras
