Detectives investigating a violent attack on a woman are appealing for a man who chased away the attacker to come forward.
A woman, 60, was attacked as she walked along City Road at around 4pm on April 8.
The Met Police are keen to speak to a ‘good samaritan’ who intervened and chased the suspect from the scene.
In what appears to have been a random incident, the suspect approached the victim and struck her in the face leaving permanent scarring. The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s or 60s. It is believed he used a sharp or bladed weapon.
The victim was taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital where her injuries were assessed as non life-threatening.
Anyone who has information relating to the identity of the suspect or the good samaritan should call police on 101 quoting 4786/8APR.
