A POLICE chase ended with a man being tasered in front of passengers on a bus in Hornsey Rise on Monday.

The Met said it had been called to reports of an attempted burglary but the suspect had fled before officers arrived.

A pursuit followed, and a 31-year-old suspect, who was in possession of a knife, boarded a bus.

Police followed him on to the vehicle, where they tasered and detained the man in front of passengers.

A spokesperson for the force said: “He was seen to be in possession of a knife and tasers were discharged by police after he refused to surrender the weapon. During his arrest, two officers were spat at and two were assaulted. All four were taken to hospital and later discharged.

“No injuries were life-threatening or life-changing. The knife was recovered at the scene. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, grievous bodily harm, theft and assaulting an emergency worker.

“He was taken to hospital by officers following welfare concerns. He remains in hospital.”
