AN award-winning poet addressed the crowd at a celebration of the cultural achievements of the borough’s young people.

Roger Robinson, winner of the prestigious 2019 TS Eliot Prize, gave a speech at a “Proud to be Young” event in King’s Square.

The evening was a showcase of 20 talented young musicians, who have benefited from free music lessons in the past three years, hosted by the Islington-based actor Afi Okaidja.

Organised by the council, the evening marked the three-year anniversary of the Town Hall’s partnership with 11 by 11, 100 hours World of Work and Music Education Islington, three organisations seeking to expand the cultural horizons of Islington’s young people.
