THE Princess of Wales visited King’s Cross to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, dropping in on the Anna Freud Centre to launch a new toolkit aimed at helping children deal with their anxiety.

The princess, who is patron of the charity, visited the centre in Rodney Street on Thursday and joined a group of schoolchildren and staff to discuss how to normalise conversations about poor mental health as well as how schools can support pupils in “building mental wellbeing”.

She said: “It is so important we all talk about feelings and emotions, the good ones and the more difficult ones too because we all have them.”

Professor Peter Fonagy, Anna Freud’s chief executive, said: “Our founder, Anna Freud, was committed to helping the most vulnerable children and she was not afraid to challenge the status quo – a legacy we are proud to continue as we renew our focus on building the mental wellbeing of current and future generations.”
