Emily Thornberry

• EMILY Thornberry was first elected to Parliament in May 2005 – under a national Labour government – eight years after the prison flats in her Islington South constituency were vacated, (MP joins attack on Pentonville Prison flats left to lie empty, February 8).

Fourteen years on and she’s now making a lot of noise about what is indeed a grotesque state of affairs. Better late than never, of course, but just as she demands to know what the (Labour-created) Ministry of Justice has been doing “for decades”, perhaps she’d have the courtesy to answer the same question herself.

Her constituents deserve to know as sooner or later there’ll be – another – general election.
