Prison term for pair who defrauded homeowner

TWO men have been sentenced to prison for scamming a woman out of hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Luke Ockenden, 27, and Peter Tannahill, 41, have been sentenced to 36 months and 42 months respectively, for defrauding a homeowner out of £128,650.
The pair were originally hired to fell a tree for £300 but ended up convincing the homeowner a huge overhaul was required – including replacement, brickwork sealing, exterior house painting, and interior plastering.
Islington Council’s trading standards and legal services team prosecuted the scammers who pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.
The Town Hall’s executive member for community safety, Councillor John Woolf, said it had been a “very upsetting case”.
