AFTER months of digging and pruning, the winners of the annual community gardening awards, Islington in Bloom, were revealed on Wednesday.

In second place but still jubilant was Copenhagen School, whose pupils collected their planting award. Hargrave Primary School, in Archway, took the top award.

Best community park prize went to Caledonian Park Friends Garden while Highbury East won the best ward honour.

Students from Hanover School who have cultivated a canal path garden took second prize in Best Forgotten Corner, where the winner was Luciana O’Flaherty.

The whole borough is a finalist in the Britain in Bloom competition organised by the Royal Horticultural Society. Results are expected next month.
