FOOTBALLERS from Vale FC and MG Academy proved that they can handle the heat on Saturday when they scooped silverware after surviving pressurised penalty shootouts.

A series of closely contested matches culminated in Vale FC beating Queen’s Park Sharks 3-2 on penalties to become the latest winners of the Camden Youth League Summer Cup after a thrilling final ended 0-0.

It took spot-kicks to settle the league’s Summer Plate competition, too.

The final between MG Academy and Bloomsbury Football also finished goalless, before MG Academy held their nerve to win 5-4 on penalties.

Tournament organiser Abul Koyar said: “The majority of the clubs also play in our league and have been with us since they were Under-7s.

Queen’s Park Sharks were among the sides that netted silverware on Saturday after impressing in the Under-8s event

“They played some great football, and I was really impressed by how much all the teams have improved, and how they all handled the pressure.”
