Residents are concerned about this site plan for Gypsies and Travellers

• ISLINGTON Council is planning to redesignate a small piece of land near Highbury Fields for use by the Gypsy / Traveller community.

The tiny area, on Ronalds Road, right next to Highbury Roundhouse and a popular food bank, is completely unsuitable for the purpose because it is extensively overlooked by flats and houses, is on a busy pedestrian route, and is right adjacent to a busy railway line.

Islington has failed to publicise its consultation properly. There is a group of concerned residents who are trying to persuade the council to look for other sites and not to push through this redesignation.

Other people who share this point of view are urged to sign the petition against redesignation. It is at change.org and you can find it by using the search terms Highbury and Gypsies. Or use this link: https://bit.ly/3K5i1Zv
