Return of big bro cameras
Met police breach council motion over tech use for second time
Friday, 30th January

LIVE facial recognition cameras were deployed once again outside Finsbury Park station yesterday (Thursday) – the second time the Met police have breached a council motion declaring they shouldn’t be used in the borough.
More than a dozen police officers were on hand to monitor use of the technology.
The Met confirmed that nine arrests had been made – including for theft and serious assault.
A heated meeting between police chiefs and councillors in September saw Met officials asked to defend their use of the technology when and where they did, and questioned over whether they had informed faith and community leaders in the area.
