Bike hangar: ‘properties all have adequate space for bike storage at the rear’

• THE photograph, above, is of a bike hanger recently installed in a Grade II conservation area.

In this square the owners of properties are strictly controlled by Islington Council in any adjustments they wish to make to their property.

It is therefore ridiculous that they have allowed this modern monstrosity to be placed in a prominent position in the square.

And this despite opposition from the residents during the “consultation” period. In any case, these properties all have adequate space for bike storage at the rear.

When wishing to contact the appropriate department by phone to enquire about the cost of a key, and with a query concerning the “take-up of the facility”, the resulting message suggested that a call-back would be made.

A week has passed, and has this happened? No! Highly irritating…
