THE search for the body of a man in his 60s who disappeared “without trace” nearly two years ago moved to locations in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire on Friday.
Police teams have been looking for Frank McKeever since August 2021 when he was last seen walking along Highbury Park close to the junction of Highbury Grange.
Surie Suksiri, 30, and Juned Sheikh, 47, have been charged with murder and are due to face a trial in October, but Mr McKeever’s remains have never been found. On Friday, areas in the Midlands including an area close to a main road stop near Welford were searched but nothing was found.
Detective Inspector Laura Nelson told the Tribune: “There’ll be no further searches within those areas. It’s now for us to go back and reassess that information and decide whether we will be conducting further searches elsewhere. Frank was last seen on August 28 2021. We believe he was likely to have been killed soon after that sighting.”
Police have confirmed that an offer of £20,000 is still on the table for anyone who comes forward with information that leads to Mr McKeever’s discovery.
According to Det Insp Nelson, Mr McKeever’s family are “devastated” by their loss.
“He’d lost contact with his family for a while, and he’d just started to rebuild those relationships and everything was looking really positive for the family. Everybody was happy and reuniting,” she said. “To then lose him again so suddenly, and then to his tragic news that we think he’s been killed.
“It’s been really hard hitting for them.”
