A MANHUNT was under way in Islington last night (Thursday) for a man suspected to have thrown a chemical substance in the faces of a woman and her two young daughters.

The suspect, named as Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, was spotted in Caledonian Road following what police described as a “targeted attack” on 12 people in Clapham on Wednesday.

The Met warned the public not to approach the man who they said had significant injuries to the right side of his face.

The chemical used in the attack was alkaline not acid, as had been suggested in early reports, the police added.

But a 31-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter are thought to have suffered injuries that “could be life changing”, according to Superintendent Gabriel Cameron. He said: “It may be some time before hospital staff are able to say how serious that might be.”

Others injured include five police officers and three women who came to the family’s aid.

A silver car abandoned at the scene is now known to belong to Mr Ezedi, police said.
