Shake-up for bus routes?
Proposals come amid declining passenger numbers

BUS routes through Caledonian Road and King’s Cross are among those that could be cut by Transport for London amid declining passenger numbers.
Previously running between Edmonton and King’s Cross, the 259 could be restructured to extend north to Ponders End, Enfield, but finish at the Nag’s Head in Holloway rather than carrying on to the south of the borough. According to TfL, this would reduce “duplication” with other services on the Cally and potentially increase demand on other routes south of Holloway.
A new bus route – provisionally route 10 – could be introduced between Balls Pond Road and Battersea Bridge, running through Essex Road and Clerkenwell towards Bloomsbury.
This is in part to accommodate a shorter route 19 – “busiest around Islington Green” – where TfL plans to remove the section between Battersea and Hyde Park Corner and extend it to serve Victoria station instead, so as to create stronger links between Upper Street and Victoria.
TfL is holding an eight-week public consultation to hear people’s views on their plans.
