Should May go in June?
Friday, 21st April 2017
• SHOULD May go in June? The starter gun for a June election was sounded this week by unelected Prime Minister Theresa May.
Voters can expect projects fear and smear to be deployed over the next few weeks with little facts in between.
Let’s be clear here: Brexit is an internal Tory gunfight that is setting the agenda for everyone else to follow. Former leader Ed Miliband was defeated, in large part, because Labour allowed the Tories and Ukip to write the narratives.
Like children in a schoolyard the Westminster political class, with the slavish mainstream media, relish the next headline and news cycle. With almost unanimous responses, politicians across the spectrum replied within minutes endorsing an early election.
Will they regret the commitment made in a rush? One that we all can regret till 2022.
