SIR Grayson Perry and the Myerscough sisters are among over 500 artists who have taken part in a fundraising art sale for the National Brain Appeal, writes Finn Logue.

The 12th “A Letter In Mind” exhibition will give members of the public the chance to buy a unique piece of artwork on an envelope for £85 a pop. There are 530 artworks in total.

As well as professional artists and celebrities, some of the works were submitted by hospital staff and patients. The twist, however, is that the artist behind each piece remains anonymous until after the exhibition has ended.

The ‘Letter In Mind’ exhibition is open to the public at Gallery Different

Marie Mangan, of the National Brain Appeal, said the charity was hoping to raise £40,000 from the sales, which will fund the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square.

Morag Myerscough, a contributing artist who grew up in Holloway, said: “A Letter in Mind is a lovely event and a wonderful cause. We all love doing it and are excited to be asked. The Brain Appeal always has such good artists involved.

“Displaying and selling the artworks anonymously is definitely part of the appeal.”

• The exhibition is open to the public at Gallery Different, 14 Percy Street W1T 1DR until March 28, with online sales from 11am on March 26 at aletterinmind.org
