• TENANTS of Peabody and other social housing providers will be wearily familiar with its many failings as outlined by a former tenant, (What happened to George Peabody’s vision?, February 25).

Repairs that take months to be completed, rodent infestation, anti-social behaviour, calls and emails that go unreturned, hostile and gaslighting managers.

I wonder how many are aware of the government’s “Social Housing Charter”, part of its levelling-up agenda.

Apparently, as part of its provisions, tenants can expect to be treated with respect, have their complaints dealt with promptly and fairly, and to be listened to.

The charter is being promoted on social media platforms. It will be interesting to see whether staff are aware of it, or if it has any positive impact on tenants. I’m not holding my breath.
