STAFF at the Postal Museum, above, celebrated being shortlisted among the country’s top institutions for a prestigious Museum of the Year award.
The Postal Museum, which includes the underground heritage attraction “Mail Rail”, launched in full in September 2017. The train ride takes passengers on a tour of the capital’s 100-year-old subterranean postal rail network.
The museum contains archive postal uniforms, pillar boxes, vehicles and a collection of stamps.
Simon Opie, the museum’s interim CEO, said: “Just being shortlisted for this incredible award is a fantastic honour, and recognition of the work the team has done in putting our brand new museum on the map.”
The winner of the £100,000 Art Fund prize will be announced at a ceremony at the V&A Museum in July.
