GOAL-GETTER Andrea Chan says she is “absolutely loving life at Camden” after bagging two more goals and an assist at the weekend.

The Finsbury Park-based forward has now scored seven goals in eight appearances since joining Camden Town WFC in the summer from Islington Borough Ladies.

Her double after stepping off the subs’ bench on Sunday helped Town beat Carshalton Athletic 5-1 at the Maurice Rebak Stadium in North Finchley to continue their perfect start to the season in Division One North of the London & South East Regional Women’s League.

Having wasted little time settling into her new surroundings, the 24-year-old believes that Town are on the cusp of “something special”.

She said: “It’s always a great feeling to get on the scoresheet, and to score twice today and help the team secure another win makes it even better.

“I’m absolutely loving life at Camden. The ambition of this club is what attracted me in the first place, and the hunger and desire from everyone involved has been evident since day one.

“There’s a real sense that we’re building something special here. The players, coaches and everyone behind the scenes are working incredibly hard, and we’re all pushing in the same direction.

“We know there’s a long way to go, but I’m really excited about what we can achieve together this season, and I can’t wait to see how far we can take it.”

On Sunday, Town continued their flawless start to their league campaign with another emphatic victory in front of their supporters.

Darren Smith’s side started brightly and showed plenty of attacking intent, but they were made to wait until the closing stages of the first half before finally making the breakthrough.

A set-piece fell kindly for Gemma Clenshaw, who reacted quickest to pounce from close range.

Chan doubled Town’s lead within minutes of the restart, and barely 60 seconds or so later it was 3-0 after Maxine Borden found herself in a dangerous position just inside the penalty area and directed a beautifully placed shot into the net.

Chan then turned provider to set up Maya Brueckner for Camden’s fourth, before grabbing her second of the afternoon with another composed finish to round off an outstanding individual display.

Carshalton grabbed themselves a consolation, but it was never going to take the gloss off another impressive victory for Town, who have now scored 28 goals in their opening six games.

After seeing his side collect three more points, Smith said: “We’re obviously delighted to have made it six wins from six, but the message to the players remains exactly the same: we have to keep working hard and looking for ways to improve.

“We created an enormous number of chances today and, on another afternoon, could have scored many more. That’s encouraging, but it also shows us that there are areas where we can still improve.

“We suffered a few injuries today, which is disappointing, but I think we demonstrated that we have tremendous strength in depth throughout this squad. Every player has an important role to play, and that collective commitment is going to be vital as the season progresses.

“We have a very ambitious group of players, but we’re not getting carried away. We’ll keep pushing, keep demanding high standards from one another and take every game as it comes.”
