THE future of studios dubbed the “Abbey Road of photography” will be decided this month after plans to build luxury flats on the site were the subject of a High Court hearing.

Holborn Studios, on the banks of the Regent’s Canal, has been under threat since developer Galliard Homes submitted plans two years ago to demolish the buildings at Eagle Wharf Road and build 50 private apartments.

Last Thursday, the owners of the studios, who lease the space from Galliard Homes, were in the High Court for a judicial review over the way Hackney Council approved the developer’s plans.
A decision is expected by the end of this month.
