A NATIONAL surge in Covid cases has led Islington’s health bosses to call on people to “grab a jab” before it’s too late.

A series of summer vaccination and advice clinics have been unveiled, including pop-up events at the Cally Festival in Caledonian Road on Sunday and the Soul in the City Festival at the Andover estate in Finsbury Park on July 16.

A new walk-in centre at Islington West Library, in Thornhill Square off Caledonian Road, will open its doors on Tuesday and will be running all month. More than 6,000 Islington residents have had their first jab just this year.

Jonathan O’Sullivan, acting director of public health for Islington Council, said: “Studies have shown that those people who are fully vaccinated are much less likely to experience serious illness or hospitalisation from Covid-19 than those who are unvaccinated, and up to 50 per cent less likely to suffer long Covid symptoms if vaccinated.”
