Support for victims of sexual assaults

Detectives investigating two street attacks urge women to come forward

POLICE are urging women believed to be the victims of sexual assaults to come forward and seek support.

Detectives sent out an appeal yesterday (Thursday) as they said they were investigating attacks in Bunhill Row and Bunhill Fields.

Officers said they were concerned that there may have been other assaults.

The two incidents happened on Thursday May 2 between 3pm and 4pm and police said
they were hoping both the victims and any witnesses would contact them.

Detective Constable Tom Wright, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am appealing to the public for information. I want to know if you were in the area at this time, and if you saw anything suspicious take place.

“If you did, then I urge you to get in contact with us as soon as possible.”

He added: “We are currently working to trace the two women who were attacked – if you were a victim then please reach out to us in order to gain the support you need – we want to be there for you.

“There is also a possibility that he has committed other offences in and around the Islington/City of London border. If you have been the victim of sexual assault then please get in contact.”

The Met said a man was arrested by officers from City of London police and charged with four counts of sexual assault.
