Islington Keep Our NHS Public members with their cakes for NHS staff

• LAST Wednesday, our staff at City Road Medical Centre took a rare moment to gather in reception and share a cup of coffee.

It was then that our receptionist Amy suddenly shouted: “We’ve got cake! The lady who brought it said today is the 69th birthday of the NHS and it’s their way of thanking staff. Never mind about my bikini body, do you want some?”

Excited, we all tucked in, licking up every crumb. A big thank-you from GP practices to Islington Keep Our NHS Public and businesses for our birthday surprise, and to the Islington Tribune for the clue to the kind donors (Cakes say thanks to NHS workers, July 7).
