A TEASER for the much-anticipated Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration has gone up in Angel, a month before its debut exhibition.

The colourful sign has appeared on the hoardings of Regents House, advertising the new gallery and providing directions of how to get there.

Passers-by have been stopping to take pictures of the iconic cockatoos as the art is currently being mounted on the walls ahead of the gallery’s opening on June 5.

The £12.5million project will see the “world’s largest dedicated illustration space” open in a restored waterworks site in Clerkenwell.

Exhibitions and performances will fill three gallery spaces, with a debut exhibition celebrating 80 years of LGBTQIA+ comics, including previously unseen works from 60 global artists.
