Thanks are due for May 5 efforts

• FOR council elections, candidates don’t pay a deposit to stand but have to get 10 local voters to agree to their nomination.

With all the council seats up for grabs in May, the Green Party has therefore had to collect more than 500 signatures to present a full slate on election day, as have all the other parties.

So all over the borough, hundreds of Islingtonians have been doing their bit to enable our democratic processes to happen.

Once the forms have been signed, staff at the town hall then have to go through literally thousands of signatures, to ensure all the paperwork is in order – a laborious process but a necessary one.

The Green Party would like to give a warm thank-you to all those people, both officers and residents, who are helping give the whole borough the chance to vote for us on May 5, deciding the shape of the council for the next four years. I’m sure the other parties are similarly grateful.
