The arguments about the fitness for purpose of Highbury Corner rage on

• THE arguments about the fitness for purpose of the Highbury Corner “improvements” are still raging, 10 months after the “switch over” from roundabout to two-way working.
It became apparent early on that the scheme was not working for many reasons that have all been chewed over in the columns of this newspaper. In its present form, it is a failure and needs to be radically (all options considered) rethought.
The TfL engineers who pushed through the project, with the unstinting support of Islington Council, should consider their positions – that is, resign. Maybe Cllr Richard Watts – who continues to brush aside any criticism – should do the same.
