‘Students stand around in large bunches, not wearing masks’
• THE students at the new Highbury Media Academy in Highbury Grove are a health menace. They stand around in large bunches, not wearing masks, and with no attempt to keep any distance.
Last Thursday morning, October 24, there were 20 or so of them queueing outside Greggs bakery in Highbury Barn, with no masks and no distancing.
Greggs allows them into the shop without a mask and refuses to challenge them because “there are exemptions from mask-wearing”, according to its customer relations department. To do them justice they queued outside not inside.
I understand that they don’t feel threatened themselves and I know that transmission of the virus is less likely outdoors than indoors, but even outdoors a big bunch like that is a menace.
I know that at least one of the shopkeepers at the Barn has complained to the academy, and I’ve written to them myself. Only some public pressure will get them to behave responsibly.
