Romani Notice receives his award from Mayor Jackson
COMMUNITY champions in Islington were celebrated for their contributions to the borough at the annual Mayor’s Civic and Ben Kinsella Awards this week.
Islington Mayor Cllr Jason Jackson presented the awards at the Islington Assembly Hall on Monday.
The Ben Kinsella Award, created in Ben’s memory to celebrate the positive contributions of Islington’s young people, was awarded to 17-year-old Romani Notice. Romani turned his life around through Islington’s Youth Justice programme and now helps to steer other young people away from crime.
Miriam Ashwell, a long-standing member of Friends of Caledonian Park, received the Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Service to Islington for her contributions to the park.
Mayor Jackson said: “I am proud to celebrate the people who make Islington the extraordinary borough it is.
“In challenging times, it is our community champions – neighbours, volunteers, carers and young leaders – who show us what hope, solidarity and compassion truly look like. Each of our winners has made a remarkable contribution to the lives of others.”
