Hornsey Road flood

Firefighters join the response to the floods in Hornsey Road

• ON Monday August 8 Holloway was yet again flooded by a major water burst.

As a result a large swathe of north Islington was left without water and will now suffer weeks of disruption while the affected roads and pavements are reinstated.

Our other privatised utility and railway companies are in crisis, and not fit for purpose. Their shareholders and chief executives syphon off massive, unearned, profits while the public continue to suffer the consequence of their greed and incompetence.

The obvious answer is to bring the utility and railway companies back under full public ownership. Unfortunately none of the main political parties is offering us this obvious solution.
