The ‘red wall’ here could be breached
Friday, 1st April 2022
• THE council appear to have abandoned their core working class supporters and become the militant wing of the middle and upper classes.
Their blanket coverage and untargeted LTNs, low traffic neighbourhoods, are causing travel chaos, pollution, and gridlock on our main roads, while pushing up property values in predominately middle class areas.
Housing estates have been abandoned to drug dealers and users, criminal gangs, and general anti-social behaviour.
Housing management, repairs and caretaking services are poor and getting worse. General refuse and recycling goes uncollected, and fly-tipping is rife and unchallenged.
Many front-line managers and white-collar staff are still working from home or refusing to receive personal callers without appointments.
Non-urgent repairs still cannot be reported on-line, and the average time for telephone calls to be answered is 20 minutes.
For four years there has been little or no effective opposition to Labour’s one-party state.
Nevertheless, Islington’s “red wall” may still be at risk of at least a breach at the May elections.
