• YOUR correspondent John Walters is completely right that there should not be through-traffic in Vorley Road, (As residents we can speak for ourselves, April 16).
This is something that the Better Archway Forum has been campaigning against throughout the years, discussing changes to the road layout at Archway.
We have this year again repeated that point both to the London Borough of Islington and written directly to transport officers at the Greater London Authority, pointing out that the simple solution is to reinstate the right-hand turn for buses from St John’s Way up Archway Road.
That would mean the No 41 and No 210 routes would not need to take the current, unnecessary, detour past residents’ homes; and while deliveries and parking could continue, the road could – if wished – be closed to through motor traffic.
As for the wooden planters on Navigator Square, like Mr Walters we too are puzzled by their appearance.
