There’s no need to fly to Dubai
London COP will be a free day of talks and lively discussion on climate change

Last year’s London COP event
WORLD leaders will be racking up the air miles when they jet off to the United Arab Emirates in November and December for the COP 29 climate change conference.
Every year, it is billed as the most important event for the planet, but critics wonder what is really achieved by the glitzy get-together.
There still isn’t a consensus among global powers about what must happen now to tackle the climate emergency – there is a lack of urgency and far too few commitments.
This is why we are holding our own London COP on December 9 – a free day of talks and lively discussion aimed at making people feel a little less helpless and hammering out what can be done to tackle the biggest collective challenge of our time.
This year the panel debates will take place at the London Irish Centre, and are being set up to be inclusive and open to all. You will not need a science PhD to follow along and there will be a chance for you to join in by asking questions to our speakers.
But that’s not the only reason to come. In the main hall, there will be an environmentally friendly Christmas fair – a perfect chance for people to pick up some plastic-free presents and hand made gifts just a couple of weeks in the middle of the festive speakers.
We’d love to see as many of our readers – and people from across London and beyond – attend and take part.
So remember the date: the LDN Cop and Xmas Fair at the London Irish Centre, Camden Square, on December 9. It’s free.
