PRIMARY school pupils put their artistic talents on show at the opening of an art exhibition on Friday.

Hugh Myddelton primary and nursery school students have all produced self-portraits that were proudly displayed in the school’s hall for a special one-day-only exhibition.

“Congratulations to the teachers and parents, and a massive congratulations to all the children who produced the wonderful pictures,” said the mayor of Islington, Gary Heather.

Ben Backhouse and Becky Millard came to the exhibition to look at their daughter Millie’s self-portrait.

“Every day Millie comes back from school, and we have a big reveal of the pictures she has drawn during the day,” said Mr Backhouse.

He added: “What’s impressive about it is the evolution from a three-year-old, which is our daughter, to these incredible things that we’re looking at now, these abstract, cubist designs, and some incredibly detailed self-portraits is hugely impressive.”
